Great Harbors is an active community which sponsors an array of year round events.  Our most active season is the summer when families enjoy a multitude of activities, such as swimming, tennis, boating.  The Annual Barbecue, Wine Tasting and Golf Tournaments are among the favorites for adults.  You may check the calendar section of this website or select one of the events below for more information.

 GREAT HARBORS WOMEN'S CLUB

The Mission of the Great Harbors Women’s Club is to protect and promote the health, safety, environment and well-being of the Great Harbors community and all of its residents.

The Great Harbors Women’s Club (GHWC) meets monthly from September through June on the third Tuesday of the month, with the exception of December. Meetings are held at the clubhouse and light refreshments are served. The meeting includes community updates from the President, a treasurer’s report, neighborhood watch update, information from the outreach representative and occasionally a guest speaker or we enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.

In addition to our meetings, the GHWC plays a major role in creating year round activities for our residents such as Mah Jongg, Yoga, Ladies Cards and the Great Harbors Book Club and oversees the planning of the December Holiday Brunch for the community. The Women’s Club has also developed an Emergency Preparedness Plan for our community.

Among the goals of the Great Harbors Women’s Club is the caring for our neighbors through activities such checking on the elderly and those living alone, providing rides to doctors and other appointments for our neighbors who need assistance, as well as providing a Safe Haven at the Club House during emergencies and stocking the Club House to be able to respond to those needs. In addition, the GHWC plans and executes events to enhance the social and intellectual life of residents, particularly in the winter when the population of the community diminishes considerably. Despite its name, the activities of the GHWC are not for women only but are designed to encompass the entire community.

Many of our members not only volunteer their time for Great Harbors but also within the Falmouth Community. Organizations such as the Falmouth Service Center, Neighborhood Falmouth, Falmouth Senior Center, Falmouth Newcomers Group, local churches, schools and nursing homes are among the focus of our residents.

Our meetings are open to all women in Great Harbors and there is a nominal charge of $10 per year to cover necessities.

If you are new to our community, please join us.

Sheila Becker will be chairing the newly formed Social Committee. Sheila and her team will plan and promote social events throughout the year. Sheila is a familiar face in Great Harbors and currently serves on the Board of Directors as the Clerk for the Association.  A good way to meet your neighbors is to volunteer to assist for one of the events.  Sheila looks forward to hearing from you.

PICKLEBALL

Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the country. It’s a fantastic paddle game for all ages and capabilities. All you need is a pair of tennis sneakers, a pickleball paddle and an interest in having fun in friendly competition.

We have permanently marked Pickleball Courts located at Tennis Court 3. Portable nets, balls and beginner paddles may be checked out from, and must be returned to, the Toll House

Learning the game is easy and we have existing players that are willing to teach the basics and techniques. If you already play the game and would like to play here at Great Harbors, or if you are interested in knowing more about the game, please contact Paul Levine at Cell: 774-392-3980; or e-mail at PRL-784@comcast.net

 AQUATICS

POOL RULES and REGULATIONS

Great Harbors is home to two great pools- a combination recreation/lap swimming pool and a "tiny-tots" wading pool. Our pools are under constant surveillance during operating hours by a full staff of American Red Cross-certified lifeguards and is run by our Recreation Director.

We are pleased to announce that we have hired an aquatic supervisor this summer.  Marla Manning currently works for the Falmouth Beaches and will join us on a part time basis to oversee lifeguard training and lessons.

Aquatic Lessons - During the summer season, the Great Harbors lifeguards offer two four-week sessions of Learn-to-Swim Lessons for a nominal cost per session.

Classes are taught by trained Water Safety (Learn-to-Swim Lessons) & Lifeguarding (Lifeguard Training) Instructors and are approved by the American Red Cross. Payment is due in full at registration, there are no refunds for missed classes, nor any prorating of fees.

Swim Team - The Great Harbors Swim Team is a friendly and competitive team open to all Great Harbors children between the ages of 3 and 13. Whether you're a kickboarder (and even if you need a little help!) or year-round competitive swimmer- there's a place for you!

If you're interested in the swim team or have any questions, concerns, or comments, please feel free to ask any of our lifeguards or our Recreation Director.  The Swim Team Schedule for 2016 will be posted when available.

Swim Team Rules

The following rules will are strictly enforced. In order to be a member of  the Great Harbors Swim Team, each child must:

Attend practice

  • Have a pool pass in their name
  • Wear a navy-blue swim suit to all swim meets

General sportsmanship guidelines are also strictly enforced. Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated, whether it be during a practice or a meet.

Any swimmer who violates swim team rules or conduct code disqualifies themselves from participation in the team.

We ask that parents with children participating in a swim meet bring a baked good or snack to share with the other swimmers at the end of the meet. In fairness to all of the parents, we ask that every participating family bring something to share.
